Our Approach

We offer grief focused couples therapy aimed at supporting partners and families in navigating the complexities of grief together.  With care, intention, and therapeutic support, partners learn to navigate loss effectively together.  Couples learn to honor their individual grief while strengthening communication, rebuilding connection, and finding new ways to support one another through the healing process.

Our process is simple and thoughtful.

At your first appointment, your therapist will begin by orienting you and your partner to therapy with Embody Mental Health.  They will review your intake paperwork and answer any questions you may have about the therapeutic process. Your therapist will collect information about your history and your experience with current symptoms.  You, your partner and your therapist will work together to identify your goals and explore strategies for achieving those goals. 

From there, your therapist will schedule an individual therapy session with each person.  By meeting one on one, the therapist is able to better understand each individual and more effectively tend to the needs of the couple. 

With this insight, you and your partner will meet together with your therapist to work toward your identified goals. 

In-person and Virtual options

Our office is conveniently located in Barrington, Illinois. This offers a neutral, supportive place to gather, grow, and reconnect. If you can’t both physically be in office, we offer telehealth appointments as well.
