Who We Are
-
At Embody Mental Health, we take a holistic, neuroaffirming and compassionate approach to therapy that honors the deep connection between mind and body. Our work blends traditional talk therapy with somatic practices. We help you better understand your physical and emotional experiences while building a greater sense of safety and regulation in your nervous system. Grounded in attachment theory, humanistic psychology, and mindfulness, we focus on fostering meaningful connection, self-compassion, and personal growth. We also integrate practical, skills-based and cognitive behavioral tools to help you navigate life’s challenges with greater confidence and resilience.
-
We are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and affirming space where people of all backgrounds and identities feel welcomed and supported. Our practice is rooted in anti-racist, feminist, and culturally responsive principles, recognizing that each person’s healing journey is shaped by their community, culture, and lived experiences. By taking a person-in-environment approach, we honor the broader systems and contexts that influence wellbeing, and strive to provide care that is compassionate, equitable, and empowering.
-
Embody Mental Health was founded by Marie Gorman, whose path into this work began through her own experience of traumatic loss. That experience shaped not only her personal healing journey, but also a deep commitment to supporting others as they navigate life’s most difficult moments.
From the beginning, Marie focused her education and clinical training on developing expertise in trauma, grief, and the complexities of healing after overwhelming life events. What emerged from that work, and now defines our practice, is a belief that healing cannot happen in isolation.
At Embody Mental Health, we view each person within the context of their full environment. We collaborate with medical providers when appropriate, recognize the impact of systemic and structural barriers, and work alongside our clients to navigate and overcome those challenges.
Rather than pathologizing symptoms, we approach them with curiosity and respect, understanding them as meaningful responses to lived experience. Together, we focus on identifying and addressing the root causes of distress, creating space for sustainable growth and embodied healing.
